(May 15, 2013) — With Armed Forces Day being celebrated on Saturday (May 18), Kurt Busch’s No. 78 Furniture Row/Sealy Chevrolet will observe the annual holiday with a special paint scheme for Saturday night’s Sprint All-Star Race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Armed Forces Day, which was created in 1949 and celebrated annually on the third Saturday in May, was an initiative led by President Harry S. Truman to establish a single holiday for citizens to pay tribute to the men and women who served in the United States’ armed forces.

THE STORY

EAST MONTPELIER, Vt. – Emily Packard of East Montpelier, Vt., opens the 2013 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series with a 35-lap Late Model feature event at Canaan Fair Speedway in Canaan, N.H., on Saturday, May 18. The 16-year-old Late Model driver won the track’s Rookie of the Year title in 2012, finishing fourth in the overall NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Model standings to ACT Late Model Tour champion Wayne Helliwell Jr. Packard has said her goal this year is to win the track championship at the track she calls home.
