NHMS.com was on-set when SYLVANIA Automotive filmed its headlight tests for the Truth Sleuths series. The Sleuths conducted visibility tests to determine the effects of aging and hazy headlights.

HOW HAS YOUR MINDSET CHANGED?: “It hasn’t changed. Obviously, had things gone well at Chicago we would have come here a little more excited and hopeful on being a real contender for the Chase. Now, we know that it’s just all or nothing. Coming into that race, I don’t think we’ve done anything different. We haven’t approached it any different than we would have, but we’re probably just not as excited about the start of the Chase as we were beginning last week. Hey, we come out of here with a win then that will all change. Just like it changed from one week to the next, it could change again.”

WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO SHAVE?: “I did the mustache because somebody said, ‘Hey, bring back the mustache.’ I said, ‘Well, if we make the Chase then I’ll bring it back.’ So I brought it back and then with the way that it went last week I was like, ‘Okay, I’m done with the mustache.’ I just changed my mind. It’s not that we’re out of it by any means, we know we have a lot of work to do, but we can certainly win this thing. I guess the other thing was that I went in the other weekend saying, ‘Okay, the only way I’m not going to look ridiculous is if we’re out there winning.’ Obviously, we didn’t do that at Chicago. It wasn’t hard to take it off, I can promise you that.”

ON HIS OUTLOOK FOR NEW HAMPSHIRE: “I was a little bit disappointed with finishing eighth last week (at Chicagoland). We’re going to need a little bit more than that to win the championship. This is a track that I feel like owes me one. We’ve been running here for a long time. We’ve had some good cars here, and we’ve had some cars capable of winning races. We just haven’t been able to finish the job. So, I kind of feel like it’s got to happen sooner or later, and I feel like that it needs to happen now. There’s a bit of urgency. Not a whole lot, just enough to keep us motivated and real positive. I feel pretty positive. I mean, this is a good race track. When we came here (for the July, 2012 race), I was without my main engineer (Kevin Meendering), who was having a child that weekend. We joke about it. Even though he was at home and trying to participate, it’s just not the ideal situation. That was something totally unavoidable, and we were happy for his situation at the time. We have him here this weekend. I’m really to attack, and go work on the car in practice. Try to find a great balance. We had a real good car when we tested here, quite a few months ago. But, still, I know what the possibilities and the chances of us having a good run, and winning the race here. I feel like we are really close. Hopefully we can hit on a few things in practice, and really get the car moving.”

Brad Keselowski may be the least-experienced driver in this year’s Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup™. And last Sunday’s GEICO 400, which Keselowski won, was only the first of 10 rounds of the post season.

But make no mistake. How he won – and whom he defeated, five-time champion Jimmie Johnson – elevated the 28-year-old Michigan native from title contender to a favorite’s role.

Kasey Kahne NASCARKasey Kahne spoiled Denny Hamlin’s heroic drive through the field and held on to win Sunday’s Lenox Industrial Tools 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, all but securing a spot in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup with his second victory of the season.

Kahne led the final 66 laps, as fast-closing Hamlin ran out of time after starting deep in the field on a restart on Lap 240. Hamlin had dominated the race, but a miscommunication on pit strategy cost him track position in the late going, and Hamlin ran out of time after securing the runner-up spot.

Clint Bowyer ran third, followed by Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Brad Keselowski. Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Kevin Harvick, Greg Biffle and Ryan Newman completed the top 10.

He passes Harvick late and pulls away for first NHMS Nationwide win

LOUDON, N.H. (July 14, 2012) – Brad Keselowski saw an opening and he took it. While Kevin Harvick was struggling with lap traffic, Keselowski raced past him to the outside of Turn 2 with 21 laps to go and never looked back en route to winning the F.W. Webb 200 Nationwide Series race on Saturday at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

It was a clean sweep for Keselowski, who took the pole earlier in the day – his third straight Nationwide Series pole at “The Magic Mile.” It was Keselowski’s 19th victory in 182 Nationwide races, which ranks 15th on the all-time series wins list.

Block, Pastrana put on show during qualifying session

LOUDON, N.H. (July 13, 2012) – Tanner Foust made it look easy. The Global RallyCross points leader slickly drifted the corners, glided through the chicane and sailed the 70-foot gap jump with ease during Friday night’s SYLVANIA SilverStar zXe Global RallyCross Seeding Session at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Foust’s time of 39.955 seconds bested the field of 14 cars in the four-lap feature.

“This track … there’s a lot of space to use and all of the elements,” said Foust. “It’s going to be hard when there’s door-to-door racing.”
