Don’t count out Jimmie Johnson, this year, for pulling off another NASCAR Sprint Cup title. He grabbed the pole at Martinsville and backed it up with a win. “We were in control of the race today. You have to dig in here. It was a hard race here. My guys made it all work and I was able to get the car right, said JJ. Checking the stats Jimmie lead the most laps some 346 of them. It was also his eighth career win at Martinsville.
Settling for less was Curt Bowyer who finished second. “My guys did a good job for me today and I’m a little disappointed(in myself)”. Coming down for the finish Johnson was leading and we could see that Bowyer was trying to get a bead on the leader when he ran out of laps. Read Full Article →

THIS IS A TRACK WHERE YOU HAVE HAD IMMENSE SUCCESS WITH SEVEN WINS AND YOU WILL BE GOING FOR NUMBER EIGHT THIS WEEKEND:
“Definitely looking forward to competing for number eight. We had a great race here in the fall and I’m expecting good things to happen once again. Regardless of car, rules package, aero implications, there is something about this track that. It might change a small percentage of what goes on in the car, but the majority of why you are successful here sticks with you. That is a nice thing to have in your back pocket each time you come here once you figure out the track.” Read Full Article →
Jimmie Johnson sets Martinsville record!
After earning the top time at practice, Jimmie Johnson gets Coors Light pole position for the STP Gas Booster 500! To top off his already great day, Johnson sets a new track qualifying record.
JIMMIE JOHNSON, NO. 48 LOWE’S CHEVROLET SS – POLE WINNER
YOU POSTED A NEW TRACK RECORD. TALK ABOUT YOUR LAP:
“I just heard that. That’s the icing on the cake. That makes the day even better yet. Track records are hard to come by, so I’m very proud of that and happy to have that. My first run out, we were in q-trim and we made two or three laps and we just knew right away that we would have a great shot at it today. At that point, I just needed to do my job and not mess up. So I’m very proud of that. It’s very easy to do at this race track, especially once practice ends. You’ll sit and have lunch and relax for a couple of hours and then have to do it all over again. It was a great day across the board for the team, driver, the engine, the car, and everything. We got the car dialed-in.”

Will Irish Eyes Be Smiling?
HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (March 13, 2011) – It could be said Irish eyes have been smiling on Jimmie Johnson and Team Lowe’s Racing as the No. 48 team has compiled three top-10 finishes in the first three races of the 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season. While a little Irish luck never hurt anyone, hard work and determination are the real reasons the No. 48 team has turned in consistent performances that have led to Johnson currently leading the driver’s point standings.
However, a notoriously challenging track lies ahead for Johnson as the series travels to Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway and the tight confines of its .533-mile high-banked concrete oval. The driver of the No. 48 Kobalt Tools Chevrolet SS has a March 2010 win at the track, which has since undergone a new configuration, but he has struggled on the track in the past. Read Full Article →

WHAT DID YOU LEARN YESTERDAY THAT NOW THE RAIN IS GOING TO UNDO?
“Not sure the rain will undo a ton. I’m glad we got on track yesterday. That was a good move by NASCAR to give us some extra time on top of the fact that if we did have rain or some issues, we would all have on track activity. I feel good. We worked on race trim and qualifying trim so I don’t know if they would, but if they say, ‘Hey, you guys got your practice yesterday and we’re going to put qualifying into effect this afternoon and that’s all we get,’ then I feel like we have our bases covered. Our car was fast. It took us a few runs to sort out things down in one and two over the bumps, but once we got that under control then we had a lot of speed in our Chevy.” Read Full Article →
Team Lowe’s Racing: Jimmie Johnson Kobalt Tools 400 Advance and Team Report
HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (March 6, 2013) – Jimmie Johnson’s season is off to a competitive start with a win in the season-opening Daytona 500 and a runner-up finish in last weekend’s race at Phoenix International Raceway. While those numbers don’t guarantee a jackpot ending to this weekend’s Kobalt Tools 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Johnson’s odds look good at the 1.5-mile oval.
Johnson will drive his No. 48 Kobalt Tools Chevrolet in the eponymously titled race. He has won four of the 11 races he has run at the speedway – with victories in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2010 – and has five top-five finishes. Of those finishes, last March’s battle with Tony Stewart in the closing laps resulted in a hard fought runner-up finish as Stewart beat Johnson on the final restart to claim the win.
With the highest driver rating at Las Vegas, the odds seem to be in Johnson’s favor. And with an impressive start to the 2013 season, it’s apparent five-time Sprint Cup champion Johnson has the tools he needs to improve upon last year’s result. Read Full Article →

Jimmie Johnson was the surprise winner of the Daytona 500 to everyone but himself
By Lou Modestino
The Daytona 500 became another coup for Jimmie Johnson, his second 500 win. “We had a great fast car and our game plan worked very well. So now everyone can buy a Chevy!” he exclaimed sporting a wide grin in victory lane. JJ also wished all fans who were injured by flying debris at the finish of Saturday’s Nationwide event “a speedy recovery.” Sunday’s win for JJ was his 61st Sprint Cup victory.
Johnson’s crew chief Chad Knaus was all smiles too when he said, “The Daytona 500 is a great thing for us. Being able to do this race today pleases me. Not bad for a guy from Rockford Speedway (Illinois)!” Meanwhile Fox color analyst Darrell Waltrip seemed surprised at JJ’s performance. “He had limited practice at Daytona. You just can’t ever count out the strategy of Chad Knaus.” And Hollywood Hotel announcer Chris Myers quipped, “The Hendrick Team is tops!” Read Full Article →

Patrick finishes Eighth and Becomes First Female to Lead Daytona 500
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Jimmie Johnson took the checkered flag in a thrilling finish to the 55th annual Daytona 500. The five-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Champion claimed his second Harley J. Earl trophy Sunday afternoon at Daytona International Speedway.
Johnson’s first Daytona 500 victory came in 2006. He started in the ninth position for both of his Daytona 500 race wins.
“I’m a very lucky man to have won it twice and (I am) honored to be on that trophy with all of those great names,” said Johnson.
“Chad Knaus and all of Hendrick Motorsports had me (in) a fast car and I could really stay up front all day long. I had a lot of confidence in the final few laps leading the train, so I knew just how fast the car was. So big credit to everybody at Hendrick Motorsports.” Read Full Article →
